Named after a green hill on the south-eastern outskirts of Almaty, Kok Tobe is a hilltop recreational area having a variety of attractions and cosy restaurants. It is most noted for the gorgeous view of the city, especially at sunset. A cable car station giving access from downtown Almaty to the hill is located near the Kazakhstan Hotel.
