If you're a first-timer to Almaty or you are not so used to cycling, we recommend you our City Tour program as the distance covered will be easier. Going by bike you'll really get the local perspective, it's actually easier then walking.

www.velo-tour.kz office is in just 10 minutes walking distance from Zhybek Zholy metro station (Gogol str, corner Panfilov str). You will have an option of choosing a City Tour or a Countryside Tour, both of which come with a well-trained and experienced guide. www.velo-tour.kz also provides a bike rental service for those adventurous who like to go out on their own.

Let's start with the tours that Velo-tour.kz provides.

Almaty City Tour
Our City Tour is an exciting ride by of some of the city's highlights, like Kazakh Music Museum, Memorial of World War II with Eternal Flame, Old Orthodox Cathedral Church, Central Mosque, Green Bazaar, Republic Palace, Monument of Abay, Fountain of Seven Rivers, Koktobe Hill (optional). Also, riding along small Almaty river, then passing by the Academy of Sciences, Opera and Ballet Theatre, Bath-House Arasan. The tour duration is about 3 hours including time break for some rest. Maximum group size is 12 persons per one guide. Minimum group size is 2 persons per one guide.

The tour starting time is optional: morning (at 9 AM), afternoon (at 1 PM) and evening (at 5 PM) at any day upon your request. Season: March to September.

Tour costs include:
• 4000 tg per person for tour and rent a bike.
• Optional - 2000 tg per person for ticket to Koktobe Hill by cable car.
The departure point is 15, Gogol str, corner of Kaldayakov str., nearby Interfood store.

Countryside Tours
We have several Countryside tours to offer for first-timers and regulars alike.

Bicycle Tour in Assy Mountain valley is arranged every Sunday or at any day per your request.
9-00 - departure from city (15 Gogol str/Kaldayakov str) by car.
11-00 - move to bikes and start biking on the route.
13-00 - picnic on the grass :-) enjoying unique landscape of the Assy valley.
14-00 - continue cycling.
17-00 - finish cycling and move into the car.
20-00 - arrival to city by car.
Season: March to October.

There are many hills, ups and downs on the route. The car will be accompanying you during the whole tour so you can stop cycling and move to the car at any time.

Tour costs include:
• 9000 tg per person for tour guiding, transportation and rent a bike.
• 2000 tg per person official entrance permit to Turgen National Park.

To join this trip 50% advance payment is required one day before the tour.
Minimum group size per car is 3 people. Maximum group size per 3 cars is 12 people.
The departure point is the same as for City Tour.

Bicycle Tour Steppe in the Canyon along Ili River every Sunday or at any day per your request.
9-00 - departure from city (15 Gogol str/Kaldayakov str) by car.
11-00 - move to bikes and start biking on the route.
13-00 - picnic beside the river Ili :-) surrounded by beautiful red rocks.
14-00 - continues cycling
17-00 - finish cycling and move into the car.
19-00 - arrival to city by car.

There are flat and several ups and downs. The car will be accompanying you during the whole tour so you can stop cycling and move to the car at any time.

Cycling tour with trekking and skiing or snowboarding in the fantastic mountain places.
9-00 - departure from city (15 Gogol str/Kaldayakov str) by car.
11-00 - start trekking to the Tuyuksu Glacier
14-00 - picnic on the snow :-) enjoying unique landscape like in Antarctica.
15-00 - start skiing/snowboarding or trekking down.
17-00 - start cycling for experienced bikers, optional you can go by car.
19-00 - finish cycling and move into the car.
20-00 - arrival to city by car.
Season: July to September.

We will start trekking to Tuyuksu Glacier to altitude 3500 m to highest point of our rout 3800 m.  Required clothing for this tour (!): mountain/winter boots, warm ski pants and jacket, hat and gloves, sunglasses and a face mask, sun protection cream.  There are only downhill on the bike route. You can go by car, if you are not experienced biker. The car will be accompanying you during the whole tour (before glacier) so you can stop cycling and move to the car at any time.

Tour costs include:
• 12000 tg per person for tour guiding, transportation and rent a bike.
• Optional - 3000 tg per person for rent a mountain ski or snowboard.

Bike Rental
Seasoned travelers who don't need a guide around and simply wish to ride at their own pace wherever they choose, can get a bike by rental service offered by www.velo-tour.kz You can also get a lock on each (if needed) and a map of the city with a cycling tour on it.
