Description
This advanced-level hike covers approximately 15 km over rugged alpine terrain with a total elevation gain up to 2,000 meters. The route features a continuous ridge traverse and breathtaking mountain views throughout the day.
The trek begins in the Kim Asar Valley, ascending to the mountain swings before reaching Furmanov Peak (3,050 m). The trail then follows a spectacular ridge to Panorama Peak (3,200 m), known for expansive views of Almaty and surrounding mountains. From there, hikers proceed to Bashuta Peak (3,400 m) and finally Chimbulachka Peak (3,450 m), the highest point of the route.
The hike concludes at the upper Shymbulak cable car station (3,200 m), where you take a cable car descent back to the valley, providing a comfortable end after a physically demanding day.
This route requires good physical fitness, stamina, and confidence in mountain terrain. In winter, the route is reversed for safety and adjusted to account for snow and icy sections.
