Description
Begin your journey with a morning pickup from your hotel. Set off on a scenic drive to the Tanbaly Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled amidst the vast, arid Chu-Ili mountains. Drive takes around 2,5 hours one way. Upon arrival, explore the museum-reserve, a unique archaeological complex in Kazakhstan. Discover a remarkable concentration of petroglyphs (rock carvings) dating from the XIV–XIII BC. to the 18th century AD. Distributed among multiple complexes with associated settlements and burial grounds, these carvings are testimonies to the husbandry, social organization, and rituals of pastoral peoples. Explore the central canyon, which contains the densest concentration of engravings and what are believed to be altars, suggesting that these places were used for sacrificial offerings.Includes
