Description
Tanbaly museum-reserve complex is one of the most impressive historical sites in Kazakhstan. It is a great example of Bronze and Iron Age art, documented on the rocky hills of the Chu-Ile mountains. It has a massive scientific and cultural value not only for Kazakhstan, but worldwide. The great size of the complex, the number of petroglyphs (over 5000), the technique which was used to create them and the geographical position make it a special place.
Part of the road goes through the real Kazakh steppes - vast flatlands with a mountain background, amazing views, a traditional lifestyle and some animals to see on the way.
With that being said, this tour will be captivating not only to history lovers but also to any visitors.
The walk inside the Tanbaly is not difficult and is suitable for people with a moderate fitness level. There is a walk of around 2 km and some hiking between the petroglyphs.
