Description
The tour begins with a 1-hour drive from Almaty city to Big Almaty Lake. Along the way, observe mountainous landscapes and dense pine forests. Big Almaty Lake is a natural alpine reservoir located in the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, 15 km south of Almaty city center, at an altitude of 2511 meters above sea level. The lake’s color changes from light blue to dark blue depending on sunlight intensity.
Next, visit Alma Arasan hot springs situated in a scenic gorge of the Zailiysky Alatau mountains, near the Big Almaty Lake at around 1780-1827 meters altitude. This area features hot radon springs, hiking trails, the Prokhodnaya River, restaurants, and sanatoriums. The hot springs are accessible year-round.
