Itinerary

Day 1: Nukus - Lake Sudochie - Aral Sea

Drive from Nukus across the Ustyurt Plateau to the Aral Sea. Observe the dramatic sea retreat and visit the bird-rich Sudochie Lake. Explore the abandoned settlement of Urga and photograph nearby canyons. Overnight in a yurt camp on the Aral Sea shores, with opportunities to walk along the coast, swim, and enjoy a fireside dinner.

Day 2: Aral Sea - Muynak - Nukus

After breakfast, travel through the Aralkum desert (the former seabed) to Muynak. Visit the ship cemetery and the Aral Sea Museum showcasing local environmental changes. Have lunch with a local family. On the return to Nukus, stop at the Mizdakhan Complex and ruins of Gaur Qala fortress. Arrive back in Nukus by afternoon.
