At a glance
Alasha is an eastern restaurant in Almaty, Kazakhstan, designed as a journey through the architecture, craft and food traditions of Central Asia. The complex draws on the visual character of historic Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva, with domes, carved columns, brickwork and ceramic details shaping the setting.
The interiors combine handworked elements with traditional decorative objects. Carved gates, stairways, balconies, verandas and gazebos give the restaurant a layered, courtyard-like character, while carpets, painted tableware, copper, bronze and wooden furniture add texture throughout the complex. The design follows the idea of a khan’s residence, with spaces suited to both relaxed meals and larger gatherings.
The kitchen focuses on Central Asian cooking, with food prepared in tandoor and wood-fired ovens. The menu tradition includes plov, dimlama, buglama, shurpa, shashlik, lagman and samsa, alongside the fragrant spices and tender meats associated with the region. The cooking has a generous, rustic quality, while the presentation and setting give the meal a more formal occasion feel.
Alasha caters to celebrations as well as regular dining. Birthday parties, corporate evenings and weddings can be arranged in a banquet hall or across the restaurant complex. Event support includes banquet decoration, musical accompaniment and related sound or lighting equipment. The venue also has a large parking area, which is useful for organised gatherings.
Outdoor-style seating is part of the setting, with verandas and gazebos intended for different Almaty weather conditions. The combination of enclosed rooms, covered areas and decorative courtyards makes the restaurant suitable for group meals, family occasions and culturally themed celebrations. Alasha is located on M. Ospanov Street at the corner of Dostyk Avenue.
